We are a family-run business, owned by local brothers Nick and Tom, and our team is a wonderful mix of Dersingham locals and passionate hospitality professionals. We’ve transformed our historic pub into a place where you can enjoy exceptional locally-sourced meals, unwind in one of our eight beautiful boutique rooms, and experience genuine Norfolk warmth. Our Story: Nearly 180 Years of Dersingham Hospitality
The Coach & Horses has been serving our village since 1846, and we’re proud to say we’re still here, still thriving, and still at the heart of our community. Back then, the pub did exactly what the name suggests – we had stables where travellers could rest their horses before continuing their journey.
In the 1930s, The Coach & Horses advertised itself with a promise that still rings true today: “Visitors will find every comfort and convenience. Charges are always reasonable and an enjoyable stay is assured.” Nearly a century later, those words still capture what we’re about, though the stables have been replaced with ample car and cycle parking!
Our story is intertwined with Sandringham’s. When Queen Victoria purchased the Sandringham Estate in 1862 for her son, Prince Albert Edward (known as Bertie), it transformed Dersingham from a quiet village into a desirable destination. That royal connection continues today – we’re honoured to source some of our finest meat from the Sandringham Estate, and as a hotel near Sandringham, we remain the perfect choice for visitors exploring the royal residence and its beautiful gardens.
Over the decades, we’ve witnessed other village pubs close their doors – The Dun Cow, The Gamekeeper’s Lodge, The Cock Inn, the Albert Victor, and The White Horse have all sadly gone. But The Coach & Horses remains, and we’re committed to being here for many more generations to come.
In 2022, local brothers Nick and Tom Suiter purchased the pub, fulfilling a lifelong dream. They’ve lovingly renovated and extended the property, adding modern comfort while respecting every bit of character and heritage. Two of our rooms – Kempe and Nelson – are located in the original 1846 building, where you can sleep surrounded by nearly 180 years of stories.

We champion Norfolk quality. Head Chef Jozef works with local farmers, fishermen, and producers to create menus that showcase the very best of our county. From Sandringham Estate meat to fresh catches from nearby coastal towns, everything we serve tells a story of Norfolk’s incredible larder.
We welcome everyone – including your dog. Five of our eight rooms are dog-friendly, complete with cosy beds, biscuits, and all the comforts your four-legged companion deserves. Our beer garden and designated dining areas mean the whole family can relax together.
